The Squat Coaching Development Camp is designed to help guide you in the process of developing your coaching skills with the help of Starting Strength Seminar Staff Coaches. The camp is intended for prospective Starting Strength Coach candidates at any level of their development - whether just starting out as a coach or ready for the platform evaluation. Space is limited to 10 participants to ensure lots of interaction among the participants and staff.
During the squat coaching camp, we’ll take an intensive look at the how and why of the teaching methods for each lift, we’ll discuss coaching and what it takes to become a better coach, and spend lots of time on the platform where you’ll get real-time feedback on your coaching of fellow participants. You’ll leave the camp with a better understanding of your strengths and weaknesses as a barbell coach and where you are in terms of coaching according the Starting Strength Coach standard.
You will act as both a lifter and a coach during this camp. Proper equipment including weightlifting shoes, a lifting belt, and appropriately stretchy pants or shorts is required for all participants.

Grant Broggi discovered Starting Strength in an effort to find a competitive edge for his Marines while they were deployed to Afghanistan in 2014. It worked. After returning home from deployment, he quickly gained a reputation for having the strongest group of Marines in the unit and was sought out for coaching on a regular basis. Since then, Grant has programmed and coached hundreds of Marines to measurable results using the Starting Strength methodology. After witnessing the results of Starting Strength in his own performance, and in that of his Marines, Grant obtained the Starting Strength Coach Certification in April of 2016. He opened a garage gym to train the general public, and then opened The Strength Co, a Starting Strength Affiliate Gym in Costa Mesa, CA.
