Spend the day improving your performance on the Low Bar Back Squat with Starting Strength Coach Francesco Decaro.
The camp will focus on good execution of the Squat, the foundational exercise of the Starting Strength method, along with the practical aspects of performing the lift, and how it fits into a training program. Participants will spend lots of time on the platform receiving coaching and instruction on the squat in a small group setting. Through the process, attendees will learn the hallmarks of a properly executed squat and how it should look and feel when it is performed correctly.
After the practical session, we will return for a discussion of programming and how to identify and correct common technical problems. The camp will wrap up with a question and answer session. Whether you are just starting out with strength training, struggling with the basics of the lifts, or looking to polish your technique and understanding of these movements, you will come away with valuable insights and experience to benefit your training. Attendance will be capped at six to allow for individualized instruction.
What to Bring
Proper weightlifting shoes are highly recommended. They increase stability, control, and consistency in all of the lifts and should be considered essential equipment if barbell training is a priority. If participants use weightlifting belts, they are encouraged to bring them. You are also encouraged to wear a 100% cotton shirt if possible or avoid wearing any slick/moisture wicking material.
Coach
Francesco is the first Italian SSC and started getting interested in Starting Strength as far back as 2019. He was immediately fascinated not only by the theory and the results, but also the effectiveness of the coaching method. After years of self-coaching and several LPs, Francesco finally found an opportunity to learn how to coach in Europe’s only Starting Strength affiliate gym. In a little over a year, he gained experience with a wide demographic of almost 200 lifters and passed the platform and oral board on his first try. He is passionate about helping and motivating those that need it the most and it’s exciting to see people realize what strength is, how positively it can impact their life and how addictive training can become.
