Come join Starting Strength Coach and Registered Dietitian Robert Santana and Registered Dietitian Audrey Friedman for the first ever Nutrition Camp.
The camp will begin with a discussion of basic nutritional concepts including energy balance and macro- and micronutrient balance. The discussion will then move to training considerations and the underlying theory behind nutritional manipulations to optimize performance for the strength trainee. Training considerations for lifters at various levels of advancement will be discussed in depth. The camp will conclude with a practical component where attendees will learn how to effectively measure and/or estimate portion sizes, read food labels, and properly use smartphone apps to manage nutrition. This will include the application of the Weights & Plates’ Nutrition Linear Progression to provide attendees with habit based goals to aim for in their quest towards optimizing strength, nutrition, and health!

Robert Santana is a Registered Dietitian, Starting Strength Coach, and owner and head strength & nutrition coach at Weights & Plates Strength & Nutrition Centerin Phoenix, AZ. For the past 17 years Robert has developed and refined his knowledge, skills, and experiences through both higher education and practical experience. Robert holds both a Bachelor of Science in Dietetics and Master of Science in Kinesiology. He has extensive experiences as a lecturer, nutrition coach, strength coach, and competitive lifter. He built upon his foundational knowledge by providing effective nutrition coaching in conjunction with teaching and coaching the barbell lifts through application of the Starting Strength model to help clients achieve their performance and/or body composition goals. Robert has worked with a variety of clients both recreational and competitive CrossFitters, strengthlifters, and powerlifters as well as a wide range of clinical populations. Robert’s commitment to helping individuals to improve their quality of life by optimizing their nutritional status while getting stronger under the barbell. His commitment and passion is to help develop stronger and healthier human beings over the long haul.
Audrey Friedman is a Registered Dietitian who has been in practice for 29 years helping her clients live a healthier life through the application of good nutrition. Audrey holds a Bachelor of Science degree in Dietetics from California State University Los Angeles. After two decades of working as a renal dietitian, she transitioned her career from the medical industry to online nutrition coaching where she found her true passion! She enjoys building strong relationships with her clients helping lifters achieve their body composition goals while maximizing their strength. Audrey has been strength training using the Starting Strength method since 2012 and has competed in two strengthlifting meets as a Masters lifter. Audrey’s goal is to become a Starting Strength Coach in the near future.
